The Xceed Component Installer will copy all the necessary files into the library's installation folder (usually in \Program Files\Xceed Components\Xceed SmartUI [version]) and register the SmartUI2.ocx ActiveX / COM component in the BIN subfolder. The only thing left to do is to make the control available to your VB 6.0 projects. To do this, perform the following steps:
Start Visual Basic 6.0.
Create a new project or open an existing one.
Select Components… from the Project menu.
An entry named "Xceed SmartUI 2.0" entry should appear in the components list.
In the Components dialog, make sure the "Xceed SmartUI 2.0" entry is checked in the components list. This will make it available for use in your applications. There is no need to include the "Xceed SmartUI Design Time Property Pages" component.
Click the OK button. The Xceed SmartUI control icon should now appear in the components toolbox.
If the control is not in the components list, perform the following steps:
Try reinstalling Xceed SmartUI from its setup program. Continue only if that didn't help.
Click the Browse… button.
Click on All files in the Files of type tab
Select the SmartUI2.ocx file located in the [Installation Folder]\Xceed SmartUI [version]\Bin folder then click on the OK button.
The "Xceed SmartUI 2.0" entry should now appear in the components list.
The License method must be called to license the library for runtime use. This applies to both registered users as well as users of a time-limited free trial license.
