In the Validation Configuration dialog, the appropriate input component should first be selected in the Component dropdown list. A descriptive name for the validation criterion must be provided in the Criterion Name text box (for details, see Criterion Name). Next, the appropriate radio button should be clicked in the Criterion Type group (see Criterion Types). Finally, either "Component", "Custom", or "Both", which represent the moment at which validation occurs, should be selected in the Validation Level group (for details, see Validation Level). In the following image, the textBox1 control has been selected, "textBox1 Criterion" has been chosen as a reference name, its type is set to "Constant Value, Range or List", and its validation level is set to "Component".
The type of criterion to be associated with an input component is set by choosing one of the options in the Criterion Type group in the Validation Configuration dialog. The following choices are possible: No Validation; Constant Value, Range or List; Data Type Only; Other Control Value; Regular Expression; and Other Cell Value.
