The Xceed Component Installer will copy all the necessary files into the library's installation folder (usually in \Program Files\Xceed Components\Xceed Encryption Library [version]) and register the XCEEDCRY.DLL ActiveX / COM component in the BIN subfolder. The only thing left to do is to make the control available to your Word 97 projects. To do this, perform the following steps:
Start Word 97 or Excel 97.
Select the Visual Basic Editor option from the Macro submenu in the Tools menu or use the Alt+F11 shortcut.
In the Microsoft Visual Basic window, select the References… option from the Tools Menu.
Make sure the "Xceed Encryption Library v1.1" entry is checked and then click on the OK button.
In the Microsoft Visual Basic window, select the UserForm option from the Insert menu.
If the Toolbox window is not visible, select the ToolBox option from the View menu.
Select the Additional Controls… option from the Tools menu.
In the Additional Controls dialog, make sure "Xceed Encryption Library v1.1" is checked in the Available Controls list.
Click the OK button.
Try reinstalling the Xceed Encryption Library from its installation program. Continue only if that didn't help.

In the References dialog, click the Browse... button.
Find and select the XCEEDCRY.DLL file (preferably the one in Windows System which was placed there by the Xceed Encryption Library installation program), then click on the Open button.
The "Xceed Encryption Library v1.1" entry should now appear in the Available References listing in the References dialog.
The License method must be called to license the library for runtime use. This applies to both registered users as well as users of a time-limited free trial license.
